Study Abroad Scholarships

SJIU is committed to helping dedicated and deserving study abroad students meet their educational goals through a focused and merit-based scholarship program. Every year SJIU offers a limited number of scholarships to qualified study abroad students, providing financial assistance to those who demonstrate cultural, academic and work-related motivation. The number of scholarships awarded each term is determined by the Scholarship Application Committee and can vary.

Students may apply for only one scholarship per session. SJIU study abroad scholarships are available exclusively to students who direct enroll through St. John International or one of its U.S. partner universities. The following are important details about scholarship eligibility and application procedures. The Study Abroad Scholarship Application Form and materials should be submitted at the time of application to the SJIU program. Students may apply for only one scholarship per session.

General Scholarship—based on candidate’s motivation for a cultural experience in Italy
To apply for this scholarship, students must:

·         Submit 1) a Study Abroad Scholarship Application Form with 2) the completed relevant essay and 3) reference contact information.

 

Academic Scholarshipbased on candidate’s academic motivation for studying abroad. Requires a minimum GPA of 3.5.

To apply for this scholarship, students must:

·         Submit 1) a Study Abroad Scholarship Application Form with 2) the completed relevant essay, 3) reference contact information, and 4) a letter of recommendation in a sealed, signed envelope.

 

Work-Study Scholarship—based on candidate’s interest in participating in one of the SJIU work-study projects during their term at SJIU. These projects are designed to be in addition to regular coursework. The projects are as follows:

                Photojournalism—Students awarded this scholarship are expected to complete a project in which they document through photos all aspects of their life and experience while at SJIU.

                Journalism—Students awarded this scholarship are expected to complete a project in which they help to develop the SJIU newspaper. They will  cover events at SJIU and around Torino and write relevant articles for    the university.
