MISSION STATEMENT

St. John International University dedicates most of its instruction and all of its research efforts to the study of how humans assimilate with their environment. The University's mission is to educate a new generation of scholars and professionals fully immersed in the opportunities of sustainable development as well as to promote a better understanding of the challenges we face, to ensure that our existence as a species on this planet is sustainable. The path SJIU has taken to achieve such ambitious goals is Twofold.

SJIU helps our students to identify models of development in which the wellbeing of the people and the planet comes before a mere increment in profit. On the other hand, it seeks to avoid demonizing profit that has characterized many green approaches of the past. Profit is made harmonious with the survival of both people and planet.

SJIU recognizes that we should underscore the economic benefits of sustainability and the very idea of sustainability should also be redeveloped as an object of affection, as an object of art. Life on this planet should be harmonious and that humans should learn through the study of beauty how to be creative while safeguarding resources.

SJIU offers an academic program that addresses environmental issues with an educational program that increases cultural understanding and awareness. Our program considers the ecosystem to be strongly connected to our culture and human artistic, economic and historical activities. The mission of St. John International University is to offer liberal arts educational programs of the highest quality to a globally diverse student population. Through its undergraduate and graduate programs in the American tradition, St. John International University's objectives include promoting humanism, fostering respect for the fundamental rights of the individual, emphasizing research, and instilling awareness of One's physical and cultural surroundings. By integrating these objectives, graduates will gain an environmental and cultural awareness, which will prepare them to share with other members of society the responsibility that each of us has towards our natural and social worlds.
