With the rise of globalization, arts organizations are being called on to respond to new art forms and ideas, audiences, ethical challenges and political and economic difficulties. The Master of Arts in International Arts Administration is an interdisciplinary program that invites extended and focused theoretical and practical explorations into culture, policy, institutions and their practice. Through case studies and research projects as well as required workshops and internships, this program will provide students with the tools necessary for a career in art and culture.
Structured as a full-time, two-year sequenced program, students will gain the necessary skills to act as successful managers in the arts, which is critical to the continued vitality of cultural institutions and creative enterprises. It is for everyone’s benefit that art managers share the work of artists, which requires an aesthetic sensibility as well as fine-tuned business skills.
Students must earn at least 60 credits to complete the program. All courses are offered in English and some courses are cross-listed with the Master in Business Administration.
Program Objectives:
- Students will combine theory and practical experiences while exploring culture, policy, institutions, and practice;
- Student will gain the necessary skills to act as successful managers in the arts;
- Students will develop their aesthetic sensibility together with their business skills in order to better share the work of artists.
Admission Requirements: To be admitted to the M.A. in International Arts Administration, students must:
- Hold a Bachelor from an American college or university or the equivalent degree from a non-U.S. institution.
- Have earned a GPA of at least 3.00 or the equivalent.
- Have taken the GRE Exam within five years of admission
- For students whose first language is not English, it is necessary to provide the official results of the TOEFL Exam taken within two years of admission with a minimum score of 250 (CBT), 88 (iBT) or 600 on the written test (other types of tests will be evaluated on a case by case basis)
Degree Requirements To earn the M.A. in International Arts Administration, students must complete the curriculum successfully with a GPA superior to 3.00. All 60 credits must be completed within five years of enrollment.
