At SJIU we are interested in creating sustainable solutions in education. As a consequence IT is a central part of our day-to-day life at the University. Our aim is to move away from the printed text and as far as possible move towards generating a paperless community. At the same time we are mindful of our commitment to environmental sustainability and spend time trying to reduce our carbon-footprint. We regularly meet and discuss solutions to making our work as an educational establishment more environmentally sustainable.

The IT facilities are ever increasing and changing but always with a mind focused on our obligations to sustainability. We have a fully functioning computer suite as well as offering students complete WI-FI coverage within the main castle.

SJIU provides internet on campus. If a student would like internet in their housing, it is the student's responsibility.

Printing services are available to students through the IT and Media Suite. While we aim to use paper from sustainable sources, we encourage staff and students to use the scanning functions of the photocopiers and store files electronically.

To continue our commitment to creating environmentally sustainable solutions for education, we now offer an internet based course contents management system that is designed to help support students in their studies. The system is operated by the University and all Students are given usernames and passwords at time of Orientation.

Where possible we invest in equipment that is energy efficient and that helps the University to fulfill its obligations to the mission statement.
