HOUSING
Students that need any housing support can contact the SJIU's Housing Coordinator in the Student Services Office. SJIU's staff members will guide students through every step of the housing process.
The following types of living accommodations are available to SJIU degree students and/or study abroad students. Fees for these options can be found in the "Tuition and Fees" section of the web site.
Traditional Italian Apartments

SJIU's standard housing option is accommodation in traditional Italian apartments. Apartments are unisex and are composed of shared bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom and common space. All apartments are furnished and provide minimal bed linens and towels, although students may wish to supplement with their own. All apartments have washing machines for laundry purposes. Kitchens are equipped with basic utilities and cooking supplies (kitchen appliances, pots and pans, etc.). Cleaning is the students’ responsibility; apartments are regularly inspected to ensure that they are maintained at an acceptable level of cleanliness.
Italian Homestays
This option is available exclusively to students participating in the SJIU study abroad program and upon request. Accommodation with Italian host-families in Vinovo is available for students who are looking for an intensive Italian cultural and linguistic experience while in Italy. SJIU host-families vary in nature and composition, and are not necessarily ‘traditional’ family units. With a host-family, students will have the opportunity to learn and experience day-to-day life in Vinovo.
Host-family arrangements included accommodation in a single or double room (depending on family). Breakfast is included everyday and dinner with the family is provided 5 times a week. Bed linens and towels are provided, laundry facilities are available to students once a week.
Students who choose accommodation with host-families in Vinovo live in close proximity to the SJIU campus. Vinovo is a residential community of approximately 14,000 inhabitants. In Vinovo, students are exposed to local, small-town lifestyle and traditions. Students can take a bus into the city center of Torino (approximately 30-40 minutes); the bus runs approximately once an hour (less frequently on weekends).
Students can also request information about housing and reserve independent apartments for single-person use.
