St. John International University (SJIU) is a new American free-standing university in Vinovo-Torino (Turin), Italy. SJIU offers study abroad, undergraduate and graduate degree programs in the areas of art history, business administration, environmental architecture, environmental studies and film studies. In order to apply to an SJIU Exchange program, candidates must provide the following for review by the Admissions Office:

  1. Completed application forms. To request a Exchange Application Form, please email admissions@sjiu.it or download from this site.
  2. Letter of proof of enrollment issued by current college or University. This letter should specify that the student has been accepted into the exchange program, under the terms of the partner universities' Exchange Agreement.
  3. A written statement of purpose (if also required by the home institution, students may simply include a copy)
  4. Application fee of 50 Euro (non-refundable)
  5. Four passport-size photographs (1-1/2''x2'') with the student's name printed on the back. These will be used to obtain various documents once in Italy.
  6. Photocopy of a valid passport

Please Note: SJIU Housing is Mandatory for Exchange Students. 

After the student's application and supporting documentation have been received, in the packet will be evaluated and if it meets admissions criteria, an acceptance letter will be sent.  Upon notification of acceptance, the student must pay the remaining Housing Fee balance. After the housing fee is paid, the student will receive an Acceptance Packet.

Admission Evaluation

Admission to the SJIU Exchange program is contingent on the applicant's enrollment status at their home University. SJIU seeks students who have maturity, responsibility, openness to ideas and the desire to contribute to and benefit from a University study program.

The Admissions Office will evaluate the following:

  1. Letter of proof of enrollment issued by current college or University
  2. The applicant's written statement of purpose
  3. Letters of recommendation (if applicable)
  4. Additional material demonstrating student qualities and achievements (such as a portfolio, resume or certificates)
  5. Extracurricular activities and work experience
