BACHELOR OF ARTS IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION St. John International University Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration

SJIU offers an Undergraduate Degrees in business administration, with a concentration in sustainability that will give its graduates the tools and experience to have an immediate impact as entrepreneurs and managers.  In addition to the standard business administration coursework, SJIU's sustainable business B.A. features courses that have been specially designed to develop systems thinking and environmental consciousness in its students and to provide them with a toolkit of sustainable know-how for use in the business environment.  To further this goal, SJIU provides additional courses from academic disciplines outside of business to foster interdisciplinary thinking and problem solving.

Specific attention will be placed on the development of students' analytical capacities, useful for the resolution of business problems through innovative solutions. The curriculum is organized in a way that maintains a lively interaction between advanced theories and best practices in the field.

The multidisciplinary aspect, which characterizes the Degree program, equips students with the necessary methodological knowledge and basic skills in the areas of economics, business, jurisprudence and mathematics/statistics. This degree provides students with the necessary specialized competencies for the analysis and management of interventions within economic systems and business. Special attention will be paid to the economic impact of environmental issues and to sustainable development as a driver for policies and growth in the 21st century.

The world today faces an unprecedented crisis that modern business and political leaders must learn to address. Global warming threatens coastal cities directly, and all of us indirectly. Environmental degradation has reached a tipping point around the globe.  There is widespread recognition that business policies and practices of the past, however well-intentioned, have been largely responsible for the growing environmental crisis.  There is also a growing consensus that business, due to its global reach, is uniquely situated to address environmental problems around the world.  Unfortunately, the next wave of leaders lacks the necessary insight and tools to make the fundamental changes necessary to preserve our planet.  A new way of thinking based on sustainable principles must be taught to  future business leaders so that, they have the tools to make decisions that will reverse environmental deterioration and preserve the earth for descendants.
