Profile
Her research interests focus on issues of migration, urban anthropology and urban religious communities. In her book The Islamic other. Reading islam in the West, (aracne 2009), the construction of muslim identity emerges as the construction of the urban other and as a matter of conflict and social transformation in modern Italian urban spaces. She has received research fellowships from the CRT foundation, to lead research on the islamic communitiy of Torino, and on the de-industrialization of the city. Current research focuses on religious revival in the western countries, second generation issues and complex societies. Her teaching experience includes cultural anthropology and epistemology of complex societies. She also works as a journalist and a reporter for different Italian journals and magazines such as ilsole 24 ore and Micromega.
